Homeowners - when calling Select Management......

If you reach out to Select Management for assistance and have to leave a message, please make sure to indicate you live in the Village of Hickory Pointe.  Select Management represents many communities and have many Property Managers.  Messages are routed to Property Managers of the corresponding community.  Identifying what property you live in will help the message get to the correct Property Manager so your question / need can be responded to.

All Board of Director Positions are Filled!

During our meeting on October 7, 2021, we did not achieve the 90 household quorum.  We reached out to our attorneys to understand the requirements and/or options of our bylaws regarding this manner.  On Friday, October 15, 2021 we received an opinion from the attorney who referenced our Bylaws, Article III (A), Sec. 7. “The Board has the power to appoint members to fill vacancies that arise.  These appointed Directors will serve for one-year terms.”

 

Given this, we asked for and received the formal count of those households that attended the meeting which was signed by the Election Official (Jeff Dobbs of Select Management).  Based on the highest votes received at the October 7, 2021 meeting, Laurie Massie and Laura Higle (current Board members) have appointed three individuals to the three open positions.  The three appointed Directors are Amir Kamal, Frank Shumsky, and Chris Warren.


We are grateful for the five individuals who put their name forward and were willing to volunteer their time to our community.  We look forward to our positions being filled and returning to business as usual.  

 

To summarize, our Board Members and their term end dates are below:

Laurie Massie (April 2022)

Laura Higle (April 2022)

Amir Kamal (November 2022)

Frank Shumsky (November 2022)

Chris Warren (November 2022)

 

We are posting a copy of the Certificate of Inspectors of Election for all to see. 

 

Thank you to all who did attend the meeting!  We hope to prioritize our new bylaws in order to minimize these kinds of issues in the future.  We need your assistance through all this (by attending meetings, by reviewing and voting on bylaws, etc.) and we thank you in advance!

We are trying to provide a listen only Zoom ability for our meeting. You won't be able to vote this way though. If you want to vote, you must come to the pool, register and complete a ballot.


Meeting officially starts at 6:00 p.m.  (Registration was at 5:30 p.m.)

We can meet under the community building. We will be presenting the meeting via Zoom (though cannot field input/ questions/ participation via Zoom). You can come to the meeting, register and then watch / listen via Zoom and drop your ballot off if you're worried about the weather. Registration must happen before the vote and ballots must be dropped off by 7:30 p.m.

 

Annual Meeting Reminder - Thursday Oct 7 - 5:30 p.m. at the Pool Parking Lot

Things to remember:

 

1. Bring a chair and anything else to help keep you comfortable.

2. If you can't attend, you can complete the proxy form for a neighbor to bring to the meeting.

3. You can nominate someone to run for a position at the meeting. They must be in good standing and there can only be one officer nominated or on the Board per household.

4. Each household gets one vote.

5. There are three eligible seats.

6. You can vote for up to three individuals.

7. Those running will have an opportunity to speak at the meeting and we are hoping Zoom will help those not in attendance meet these individuals (Zoom information was sent out in the mailed packet.)

8. Unfortunately, we will not be able to field questions from Zoom due to lack of resources.

9. Please remember to check in with Select Management (they are technically running the vote and we need to have a process that limits one vote per household).

Earlier starting time for Annual Meeting

We are concerned that we will lose natural light during our Annual Meeting on October 7 so we need to start earlier.  Registration will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the meeting will start shortly after that.

Due to the pandemic, our Annual meetings have either been canceled or delayed.  We are planning to have our Annual Meeting on October 7, 2021 6:30 p.m. (weather permitting). Please bring your own chair!  

One agenda item is to vote for Board positions.  Currently we have two vacated positions and a third position also requires a vote.  Please attend so we can achieve a quorum and have a full Board again.  

Please consider running for a Board position.  It is important we have a full Board. If you'd like more information, please email us at bod@hickorypointesub.com

Finally, the pool will be closing Tuesday, September 7 2021.
